Yes on Prop 21
Well.... i couldnt find any good No on prop 21 videos but it doesnt matter i would still vote yes on it. im probably the most indoor person in the class but if it comes to fishing and camping then i would be like the first one out the door. i hate it when you go camping and you see trash every where!!! whether its on a trail or just behind some rock garbage could be found anywhere. one year we went hiking up in mammoth to this beautiful waterfall and it was amazing but on the way up all you see is cans and stirofoam cups and stuff. if they cleaned up parks it would make it that much more beautiful. i never read anything about this but if they were able to get more money then fish hatcheries might be able to grow more fish. every year we go camping at june-lake-loop up in the high sierras ( chain of lakes ) and the lakes are so over fished. now a days you can only catch fish that are like less then a foot long. if you go into restaurants there they have fish caught in the lakes mounted on the walls that are huge but we will never be able to catch anything like that now. there used to be alot of hatcheries up there but now there are so few. if i can help improve parks with just $18 dollars then i wouldnt mind paying it.
p.s. i think it would be better if they just made it a hidden tax. like the old quote goes... " out of sight out of mind "

A whole website about meg whitman and what she plans on doing if she were elected governor. it has alot of things in it and its pretty amazing how much effort she put into this election.

Teacher Interview
I asked a very interesting teacher, Mr. Ramaswamy, a few questions over email about what he thinks about school. In the email it mentions that other students asked him as well. Im just going to post all the questions he answered. Sorry to those people who asked him the questions too, but im just going to post those answers along with mine.
Another students questions :
2) What are your thoughts on summer school, should it be longer, shorter, stay the same, or go back to how it was; tree month in school and then one month of vacation? Yes, summer school should be dramatically longer: right now, we shrink 180 hours of material to ~100hrs!
5) How do you keep students Interested in what you are teaching them? Through humour, drawing connections between concepts, showing the relevance of the concepts in the real-world
And my questions that got answered:
1) Well, What do you think about our education? Very weak compared to Europe and Asia.
3) What are your views on merit pay? ( pay teachers extra money do to how well students do on CSTs ) Am a fan.
4) Do you think that schools should have a formal dress code? I am not familiar w any research that shows that dress code enhances student behaviour / learning.
6) Should students go to school more days of the year and more hours during the day? Yes, if THATS the policy!
7) Should teachers get fired because many of their students didnt perform to expectations? If the failure is consistent, then yes.
8) Does school prepare students for their future? Schools do provide students w academic and social skills.
p.s. forgot to mention i asked him a few more questions but he didnt answer them because he didnt want to repeat himself with the other questions from other students. No names were given in the email for the other students so i cant give them credit for their work.
Someone elses question :
1. What do you feel your impact is on the student body? Quite a bit, I think: I influence their attitudes, their work-ethic, their careers.2. Do you think the school spends its money wisely? Too generic a Q! The school COULD be wiser: Id like more to be spent on academics, less on sports.3. Is there any specific way you think the school can improve? Keep the library open longer; make it easier it fire bad teachers; make the school year and day longer.4. Do you think the school should be stricter with their graduation requirements? Yes, students rise to the higher expectations made of them.5. Do you think seniority is a good basis for cutting teachers? No, merit should be! The worst should be dismissed.6. How do you feel about “No Child Left Behind”? Positive: it had brought accountability to the centre of the debate.7. In your opinion, how should a teacher be evaluated? Examine the IMPROVEMENT in TEST SCORES the students make, relative to students of comparable demographics.8. Do you think money is the answer to schools improving?A higher pay shall attract a better quality of teachers: Norway, Sweden and Singapore recruit teachers from the TOP of their class and pay them VERY well; the U.S. from the bottom [really!].9. Do you think the number of kids in a classroom positively or negatively affects a student’s learning abilities, and why? Depends on the level: for a good teacher teaching an upper-level class, numbers are irrelevant. To be true, individual ATTENTION shall suffer...but teaching quality shouldnt!10. Do you think your students’ standardized test scores reflect you as a teacher? Yes! The CSTs measure the minimum basic requirement for students to know before they progress.

RE: Group Discussion
Group Discussion 2
During this times group discussion we had to talk about SB1070 and anything and everything that went with it. Many people made alot of very great points in their views weather they were for it or against it or just things about SB1070. Though this time around I didn't talk, but I was still scared. I think I know why Im scared though. Its probable because theres no one in the class that Im friends with. If there was at least a couple of people I know in the group I dont think I would be as nervous. Anyways, I think everyone did a great job and hope that we will be able to beat 1st and 4th? periods next time.

SB 1070
http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/international/countriesandterritories/mexico/drug_trafficking/index.html
Oscar Hildago / New York Times August 18, 2010
This article basicly talks about how Felipe Calderon is trying to fight the drug cartels with federal police. Both parties have had many casualties but slowly but surely the federal police are helping calm things down. Though we still see problems with drug, human, and gun trafficing in and out of the United States today.

Associated Press / New York Times September 11, 2010
85 inmates Escaped from a prison in mexico. 44 employees of the prison are under inspection. Doesnt say for what but im assuming for the assisting of the release of the prisoners or just maybe to be questioned on how they escaped. Many other prison breaks have been going on. They could be connected in a way but no one knows.

Randal C. Archibold / New York Times September 12, 2010
Mexico is celebrating their 200th year of the seperation of Spain. Over 2 dozen towns and probable more are not going to have fireworks due to safety reasons. But some towns still plan on having parades and the works. Sadly somethings like a 30 story Obelisk wont be finished being built on that day, Thursday the 16th.
